Financial markets

Efficient financial markets are a key factor in economic development. Finland's financial markets are part of the European Union's financial markets. The Ministry of Finance is responsible for ensuring the legislative framework for Finland's financial markets is workable and fosters stability.

To carry out its responsibilities in this area, the Ministry monitors the financial markets and contributes to preparatory work on financial market regulation within the EU and several international organizations. The Ministry is also responsible for strategic oversight of government debt servicing and the preparation of policy relating to international financial institutions.
